Hey there and thanks for stopping by our wedding photography guide. Planning a wedding is a huge job so we thought we would try and alleviate any stresses that might be occurring when you are thinking about booking your photographer. This guide aims to walk you through some of the most commonly asked questions we get and explain what we will be up to on your day so that you can relax, get awesome images and enjoy your wedding in the best possible way.
By now you probably already know that we are pretty responsive when it comes to emailing but we are also more than happy to give you a call if you’d prefer to speak on the phone.
Everyone is busy these days and no more so than when you are planning a wedding. If we can’t meet in person ahead of your big day there is no need to panic! We only meet about 40% of our couples in person so if we can’t meet we can always have a skype call or have a chat about your plans over the phone. With so many weddings up on our website you can spend much longer looking through them than we ever could in a meeting anyway.
Alternatively a Pre-Wedding Shoot is a great way for us to kill two birds with one stone as we can chat about your day and get some awesome photos of you both at the same time. (there’s more info on Pre-Wedding Shoots below)
Providing we’re available for your date it’s simply a case of paying a 25% booking fee to secure us for your wedding date. Super easy! We believe in being fair and due to the high number of enquiries we get we only reserve the date once the booking fee has been paid. Just ask us for our bank details and the rest is as simple as 1,2,3!

A Pre-Wedding Shoot is a great opportunity for us to meet up before the big day, take some cool pictures and make you feel more comfortable in front of the camera ahead of your big day. We usually choose a quiet woodland walk for this but are also happy in the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s completely up to you. We spend about an hour walking around, snapping away and chatting about your plans.
Our recommendation would be that you wear matching onesie’s for this…(only joking)…unless you want to! We would suggest you wear whatever you are comfortable in but maybe try to avoid the same colours or colours that clash with each other.
The Pre-Wedding is a great opportunity to take those ‘I hate having my photo taken’ nerves away. Meet up. Have some fun with your partner and get some great images for you both to keep.
After months and months of planning the big day has finally arrived! Whilst the day will be pretty hectic for the both of you we can break the day down into manageable segments so you know exactly whats happening and when.
We typically like to arrive early in the morning. Not so early that you are still asleep! but early enough so that we can introduce ourselves to your family and friends. This way everyone feels much more confortable with a camera around. We use this time to take photos of any details such as Jewellery, Shoes, Flowers etc as well as people enjoying the nervous anticipation of the day ahead.
This is what all that planning and preparation has been building up to! The actual wedding ceremony itself. We have experience of all manner of venues and will do our best to ensure all the important moments are captured to tell the story of your wedding vows. We endeavour to be as discreet as possible and will NOT at any point request you pause to pose for a photo.
As soon as the Ceremony draws to a close you will typically exit the Church or the room in which you said I do. At this point people will come up to you giving their congratulations. We are happy to let this unfold naturally on the day and snap pictures of people giving you lots of hugs and kisses. This time makes for great candid natural shots.
We know the importance of family shots and these can be done without fuss at Church or at the venue it’s completely up to you. The only thing we request from you is a list of the shots you would like and a nominated member of your wedding party to help us identify them (normally an usher or bridesmaid). If you are struggling with who you want in your family shots we are happy to assist with ideas.
This is a great chance to take 10-15mins out of the day just for the two of you. It will probably be one of the only times in the day when you will get to talk to the person you just married on your own, so enjoy it! We will just suggest some simple positions for you to stand in and then we will snap away. You’ll be so busy talking and laughing about your day you won’t even notice us getting some awesome snaps of the two of you just being yourselves.
Some couples have food before or after their speeches depending on their preference. Either way we tend not to take photos of people scoffing their faces with food as it’s not very flattering. We usually use this time to refuel ourselves for therest of the day ahead.
One of our favourite parts of the day is listening to the speeches and it is also one of the best times for us to photograph people being themselves and get some great candid shots. We look for great reactions whether that’s the laugh from a joke or the tears from a heartfelt story. We absolutely love photographing this part of the wedding.
As your evening guest start rolling in to the party we will be milling around taking candid photos of people enjoying themselves. At this point if you want a group shot with anyone just let us know and we will take it there and then. We will then be with you until the First Dance and about 30 minutes to an hour after that if people are hitting up the dance floor. We will then say our goodbyes and leave you to party the night away.
In the first instance you will see a selection of approximately 100 photos on our website in a slideshow like this-
After you have seen the slideshow your completed set of Hi-Res images will be put in the post for you to enjoy. We aim to have your photos with you within 4-8 weeks of the wedding.
Of course you can! You’ve paid for your photos so we believe you can do whatever you want with them. We provide your photos in HI-RES so they are fully ready to be printed or made into a canvas or album. Whatever you want! They’re 100% yours! No copyrights as far as we’re concerned. Just please don’t start a rival wedding photography business with them!
We hope this guide has given you some idea of what to expect from us on your wedding day and afterwards. If you have any more questions we are simply a phone call or email away. We have been to a lot of weddings but each one presents new and exciting moments to capture and we really enjoy helping you re-live this special day in your lives. Hopefully we will see you on your wedding day!
